The journey of SGW&C

reflects our humble beginnings

and the power of personal connections.

Originating from a simple desire to create a welcoming space, SGW&C grew

from a casual idea into...

a thriving community where authenticity and inclusivity are at the core.

The journey of SGW&C reflects the essence of humble beginnings and the power of personal connections. Originating from a simple desire to create a welcoming space, SGW&C grew from a casual idea into a thriving community where authenticity and inclusivity are at the core.

The beginning of SGW&C can be traced back to my experiences in West Texas...

where a sense of isolation led me to consider the importance of genuine connections. Working at a local coffee shop, I often felt a lack of connection to the community and found encouragement in the empowering message of a book written by my coach that emphasized the impact of reaching out to others.

Returning to Springtown with a newfound perspective, I embarked on the journey of establishing SGW&C with a grass roots and personable approach. Supported by my husband and inspired by a welcoming coffee shop in Pojo, I set out to invite individuals to join our community in 2022, with a focus on creating a space where everyone feels valued and embraced.

The growth of SGW&C shows the significance of staying true to the initial vision of fostering meaningful connections in a casual and welcoming manner. It is a testament to the humble beginnings and the dedication to building a community based on sincerity, authenticity, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Imagine what it is like to be among a supportive group of women who

build each other up.

What our members say

It wasn’t til I came to coffee at Pojo that I finally felt like I found my new home

Lorrie Reed

I moved to Springtown 2 years ago after living in my home of 27 years. Retiring here was at first scary without knowing anyone. I met a few neighbors but it wasn’t til I came to coffee at Pojo that I finally felt like I found my new home. I tried another group first but didn’t feel welcomed at all. It wasn’t like that at all with the wonderful ladies at SGWCM! I have made so many friends and I love the opportunity to do community service as well. I thank God for all these women and so grateful that
Ursula Riddle answered the call to start this group

I desperately missed two things: my church and my widows group—and friends.

Ruby Hayward

I moved to Paradise two years ago after a year in Denton while home was being built. Before that I lived in Oklahoma on 1/2 acre outside Tulsa for 46 years. I desperately missed two things: my church and my widows group—and friends. I could reach out and call someone to go to the movie coffee walk or just vent. We knew who was up early and who you could call late.
I happened to see a post about the coffee shop and decided to drop by. That was last summer - Judy and her daughter Gayla McGahey
made me immediately feel like best friends. I love there are so many opportunities to serve .

Please join us, check us out, maybe our community is what you are looking for!

Debra Dryzgula

I moved to Springtown in July 2015, I was working full time and didn't really have an opportunity to get involved in anything or meet new people. Then I retired in November of 2021!!Yay!! We traveled a bit in the next several months, so much fun! Then in the fall of 2022 I began to get depressed, no real purpose to my days and I felt alone, all my friends were still working.
I was scrolling through Facebook and saw the face of Ursula Riddle, her video asking, do you feel alone, need to meet new friends, feel the need to belong to something, then meet me at Pojo Coffee Shoppe on Tuesday at 9:00am. I saw her face & video 2 or 3 weeks in a row, I told my husband I wanted to check it out.... I went the next Tuesday. I am so very glad I did!!! These ladies, 5 or 6 of them welcomed me, hugged me and made me feel like I mattered. Theses ladies helped me to find community, make some very good friends and helped me through this very difficult transition to retired life!!! I love these ladies and the community support this group does for each other and Springtown.

STRAIGHT FROM Phyllis

Our Tuesday morning SG group is an answer to prayer.

I needed to be in a women’s group so I don’t talk my husband to death. This group is soooo uplifting, supportive & caring-the group & the individuals. They call, share, pray & find out how we each are doing & what our needs are. A God centered group of women. Thank you Lord

I wanted to make friends that would become my tribe!

I moved to Springtown a year ago and as a newbie, I wanted to make friends that would become my tribe! I saw the post on Springtown Community by our fearless leader Ursula Riddle and decided to go and see what this group was all about. I don’t regret it for a bit. I was welcomed and loved. I enjoyed being part of these amazing women who not only care for one another but the entire community and beyond! I’m blessed to be part of SGWCM!

STRAIGHT FROM Karie

Never had a group of women that made me feel as at peace and welcome as SGWCM has.

I am a native Texan, however grew up in Colorado, moved back and have been in Springtown for 23 yrs. Got my MLT License and college degree at age 50. Worked in the lab Azle Hospital until 5 yrs. ago. Never had a group of women that made me feel as at peace and welcome as SGWCM has. So thankful to Ursula Riddle for her following God's guidance in starting this wonderful group. I am a bit of an introvert, so making friends is a struggle for me. I love learning about new ways to contribute to community, and new fun things to do as well.
